Venu Menu is an app I developed as part of a team in Spring semester of 2019. The consisted of Nicolai Cascio, Jonathan Gaige, Travis Szabolcska, and Ryan Wiskirchen. Unlike other projects I worked on, this wasn't simply a game. Venu Menu had a purpose.
The assignment was to find a need, and fill that need. Specifically, we decided to help non-verbal students with autism. Identifying a need was simple. Non-verbal students with autism can have a tough time ordering food. Our team determined that we could create an app that lets students put a food order together without having to talk. Students use the app to scan a logo of a restaurant, and the app pulls up a menu. Now the student can put together their order in the app, and simply show it to the person at the register. A simple app that makes it easier to order food could make a big difference to a person in simply getting through their day a bit easier.
